The technology is used exclusively by EA teams and studios, and our powerful runtime and workflows are highly configurable and cover all aspects of development including Audio, Animation, Cinematics, Scripting, Artificial Intelligence, Physics, Destruction, Rendering, Visual Effects, and more. The Challenge Ahead

We are looking for a talented Development Director who is passionate about software development to provide daily team leadership within our Frostbite teams. We believe in strong, empowered teams with technical excellence that can deliver on our ambitious vision and goals.

A development director at Frostbite is responsible for project management, people management and agile processes. The Development director works in partnership with the Product Owner to ensure that the team have what they need to be successful. It’s the Development Director’s responsibility to coach the team to be autonomous and nurture a culture of learning.

What a Development Director does at Frostbite

As a Development Director, you will work closely together with the other Development Director in your domain and you will together care for your teams.

You will be responsible for

  • People management, including career development and regular coaching of your team members

  • Identifying areas of process improvement and lead change

  • Coaching and motivate teams to remove obstacles and reach their goals

  • Visualizing team and product metrics for the team, the studio and external stakeholders

  • Evaluating Risk analysis and mitigation techniques

  • Coordinating with other Frostbite teams to reach common goals and share visibility in the team’s work

  • Coordinating with other EA game teams regarding requests and feedback on feature and support

  • Driving initiatives to increase engagement within the team

Some additional responsibilities Include

  • Planning the resources, schedule and organization structure for the responsible areas throughout the whole product cycle.

  • Tracking process and making the development results visible, raising risks and opportunities, present options and drive decision making in the responsible area

  • Assuring quality while observing that the team is happy and satisfied.

  • Improving processes across the whole development organization.

We expect that our next Development Manager probably

  • Has at least 3 years of experience working with agile methodologies (e.g. Kanban or Scrum)

  • Has experience working with creative, high-performing software teams

  • Has a technical background or solid technical understanding

  • Has experience working in complex, rapid-moving projects

  • Has passion for visualizing team progress and metrics

  • Has passion for communication and transparency within the teams and studio

  • Has passion for making teams and individuals grow

  • Has strong language skills – excellent spoken and written English

  • Is an excellent team player with great collaboration skills

To be successful in this role we believe that one must have

  • Proven leadership skills and desire to lead

  • Project Management or Project Coordination experience

  • Some years of leadership experience

  • Strong negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills

  • Effective communication skills across all levels of an organization

  • Ability to motivate and inspire teams.

  • Background in Computer Science or equivalent

  • Experience from people management
