Volvo Group Senior Design Engineer Powertrain Installation Components and system in Göteborg, Sweden

Position Summary

Do you want to be part of a highly skilled engineering team who are developing trucks for the future? We are looking for a driven and curious engineer who wants to join us and take on the challenge together with the rest of the team.

As a design engineer in the Powertrain Installation Component and System group you will belong to a team of 8 skilled and experienced engineers. We are responsible for developing new components and systems on the Heavy Duty trucks platform for the future trucks as well as improving the current products.

Role Description

You will be part of a group that work closely together but you will have your own area of responsibility where you will drive the development of new components for this area.

As a design engineer you will be working in an international environment in cross functional teams with colleagues inside Volvo as well as colleagues worldwide.

To be successful in this role you need to have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a cross functional team where you as a design engineer are the leader responsible for the end result.

The PWTI Component and System group has a wide range of components within our scope of responsibility e.g. air intake system, cooling of the engine, installation of cooling package and expansion tanks, recirculation shields, fan shroud, fan ring, oil fill and check, pipes and hoses, gearshift cables, noise shields, heat shields etc. The open position in the group is as senior design responsible engineer for oil fill and check system and there are great opportunities for personal development inside the group’s area of responsibility.


  • You have a degree of MSc in Mechanical engineering or B Sc with some years relevant professional work experience

  • Previous engineering experience from product development within the automotive industry is a benefit. As well as experience working with polymeric materials

  • You have some experience in 3D-modelling and PDM-systems, preferably PTC Creo and PDMLink

  • You have excellent communication skills

  • You must be fluent in English, both written and spoken since you will be working in a global environment
