The Product Development unit is developing complete power systems for industrial and marine applications. Our Design Department consisting of mechanical and electrical design for whole engine, after treatment, and transmission systems are now looking for new Medium Duty Platform Manager. Well known products in our platform are the industrial products D5 and D8 and our D4/D7.

The department is responsible for the development of Volvo Penta’s diesel engines in above mentioned engine families and consists of 20 engineers. The ambition is to keep a holistic view of our products throughout the whole product lifecycle including being part of setting the roadmap for the next generation products. You will have an extensive net of contacts within the company and by that we are putting value in your personal profile in networking and being the centre of topics concerning your platform.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the MDEP platform development team by developing both the team and individuals

  • Take an active part of the Design Management team

  • Lead the development of new technologies and strategies in industrial and marine applications as well as the different stages in the product cycle of the engine, from new development projects via product maintenance to feedback from the market.

  • Full engineering responsibility of your products and its features. Knowledgeable about your products behaviour and performance needed to fulfil and even exceed the customer expectations

  • Financial responsibility for project and department budget

Competence profile

  • Strong leadership skills and drive

  • Excellent collaboration, networking and communication skills

  • A creative mind and solution oriented attitude

  • Good knowledge of engine development, project management and the development process

  • Systematic & structured way of working

  • Knowledge of diesel engines, industrial and marine environment and mechatronics

  • Fluent in Swedish and English

  • Msc in Engineering or equivalent education
