Media Technologies Research Area
Media Technologies is a research area at Ericsson Research with the mission to ensure that Ericsson products have world leading performance for media distribution and media applications. We also drive the digitalization of Ericsson and the Industry by developing enablers for AR/VR. In this capacity, we develop algorithms for media compression and object recognition, we also have a glass-to-glass competence from capture over processing and transport to rendering.
We are now searching for several Researchers in Video Coding & Processing Algorithms
As a researcher in our team you will be at the forefront of technology development for next generation video codecs. You will be responsible for inventing, implementing, and testing video coding and image processing algorithms that will be deployed on billions of devices and across communication networks of tomorrow. You may participate in international standardization such as MPEG and ITU-T, development of emerging technologies such as AR/VR, enhancing existing and future Ericsson products and offerings. You may be involved in projects and collaborations across Ericsson, industry, and academia. You will produce code of algorithmic implementations, technology demonstrations, standard contributions, academic publications, and patent applications.
You, as the successful candidate for the role:
Will be working in an international team of world class researchers including some of the key authorities and thought leaders world-wide on media coding.
Will influence development of standards for video coding technology used by billions of people worldwide.
Will deepen your expertise in state of the art media processing and coding.

- Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or similar technical field; newly graduated or with work experience
Knowledge & Experience:
You have experience of algorithmic research.
You have experience or demonstrated interest in video coding, image processing or computer vision.
You have solid programming experience in C++ or another OO programming language.
You have hands on experience in Python, Matlab or other scripting languages.
You have a good mathematical background.
You have presented your work at standardization meetings, academic conferences, universities, or industry events.

You can communicate clearly and effectively in English and present your ideas with confidence.
You are a self-starter and like to get things done.
