We are now looking to hire a Team Leader, who will lead the scientific activities in the field of lung regeneration and respiratory lung disease witihn Innovative Medicine - Respiratory, Inflammation & Autoimmunity (IMED RIA). The position will be placed in Gothenburg, Sweden.
IMED RIA is seeking to lead a breakthrough in disease modification and cure, thereby changing the future of respiratory disease management.
Bioscience Lung Regeneration is part of this bold ambition, where our focus is on recovery of lung tissue and function. Our goal is explore the underlying mechanisms which perturb effective repair in diseased cells/tissue. We will model environments which reveal patient cell differential biology (vs healthy) – including multi-cell communication, stem cell morphology, matrix signals, damage – and thereby generate a platform to discover correctors of regenerative capacity.
As Team Leader you will be responsible for planning the research to identify drivers of disease phenotypes and biomarkers that guide target identification and patient segmentation and support drug development projects. You will is also be responsible for establishing external collaborations with CROs, academia and biotech partners.
You will ensure recruitment, training and development of the team members to enable and continuously optimize project delivery.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Key member of the Lung Regeneration Leadership team, providing strong input into the research strategy Accountable for strategic planning and long term development of Lung regeneration biology in close collaboration with the Head of Department and the other Team leaders
Accountable to manage resources effectively, providing flexible, competent and responsive services in good quality and speed according to the portfolio needs; continuously enhance productivity and cost efficacy
Drive innovation and scientific excellence in the Lung regeneration biology through internal scientific development, external collaborations, publications and competitive awareness. Will also actively search, establish and manage external collaborations.
Propose and drive new targets into the portfolio in close collaboration with the
Work collaboratively with other Teams within and outside of the IMED
Make AZ scientifically visible by publishing scientific papers and presenting data at conferences
Select, develop, coach, mentor, retain, motivate and inspire scientists; create and maintain a work environment in which scientific challenge and innovation are maximized
Strong focus on managing performance and setting challenging, achievable and measurable objectives and manage salary and bonus for the team.
Ensure that the work of the team is performed with right quality in accordance with compliance processes meeting Biology standards.
Ensure compliance with all corporate guidelines and rules
M.D. or Ph.D degree in related disease area or equivalent
Expertise in lung regneration and/or expertise in stem cell biology
Strong leadership capabilities with emphasis of people management and development of others
Experience in drug discovery in Pharma or Biotech setting is beneficial
An understanding of Respiratory Diseases
Publication record in the field of respiratory and/or regeneration/stem cell
Good communication and networking skills
Experience in the identification and progression of drug targets through to the clinical setting
