Overview

TIBCO Spotfire Engineering is seeking an experienced software development manager to lead our Visual Analytics team.

The Visual Analytics team is one of three development teams in TIBCO Spotfire’s Göteborg office. Each team has a set of primary areas of responsibility and expertise. The Visual Analytics team is responsible for building the data Visualizations that are at the core of Spotfire.

The team is comprised of a number of cross-functional feature teams with all of the competencies needed to build a feature from specification through implementation to test. The team is also responsible for maintaining and supporting existing products, ongoing code maintenance, and assisting our Support team with bug fixes and trouble shooting.

The team currently has 20+ employees including Project Managers, Developers, and Testers.

Responsibilities

As a Senior member of the Engineering team you will be responsible for managing the team, leading and executing efforts to ensure proper skills are available for current and future projects, and ensuring projects are delivered with market-leading quality. You should thrive on the energy and flexibility required to be successful working with disparate teams in multiple locations around the globe.

The job holder will be expected to perform the following:-

  • Team moral, training, and providing development opportunities to grow skill sets

  • Performance management and evaluation

  • Oversight of design and code quality

  • Communication and collaboration between all disciplines and functions

  • Providing quality oversight of applied best practices

  • Participating in planning and design review of software components

  • Staying current on plans and progress of projects and resolving technical and personnel issues

  • Consulting on project staffing efforts and participating in staffing interviews

  • Working with team leads across the organization and globe to coordinate all aspects of the product lifecycle

  • Getting commitment from others and getting them to meet those commitments

Specialized knowledge and skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge, preferably as a software engineer in the past

  • Experience with Agile methodologies

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and strategic thinking abilities

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Understand the balance of feature development, business case, time-to-market, and make trade-offs where appropriate

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Master’s in Computer Science or equivalent (Master’s strongly preferred)

  • Fluent in English and Swedish (written and spoken)

  • 5+ year experience working as a team or project manager, with 10+ years total work experience

  • 5+ years of documented experience of managing staff / personnel responsibilities of teams15+ employees

  • Proven experience in multiple roles within software development
