Volvo Group Digital road for system simulation in Göteborg, Sweden

Background

In system simulation team, we are working on fuel economy simulation platform that models the vehicle, the driver and the road. Having realistic representation of these different components is important to correlate properly simulation with real world.

The road component describes the road on which the vehicle will drive. Typical information contained in this component are road speed limit, altitude, stops, GPS traces…

It can also contain environment data like air temperature.

It becomes more and more critical to have realistic road cycle including additional data that were not taken into account for now. A better representation of the vehicle environment will require new types of data like traffic light locations, road curvature…

Our team has evaluated the digital mapping webservice HERE to access these types of data.
